French press-style coffee is a simple option at camp because it requires little equipment beyond hot water, ground coffee, and a press.
Heat the water
Use an appropriate outdoor cooking setup and heat enough water for your coffee maker. Avoid overfilling cookware and keep the setup stable.
Add ground coffee
A medium-to-coarse grind is commonly used for French press coffee. Adjust the amount based on your preferred strength.
Steep and press
Add hot water, allow the coffee to steep, then press slowly and evenly. Brewing time can be adjusted to taste.
Clean up responsibly
Let equipment cool before cleaning. Pack out coffee grounds where required and avoid leaving food waste at the campsite.
